Jess is PA Media’s Law Editor.

Jess joined PA in August 2019 and has covered everything from breaking news, politics and royals to even the odd weather story.

At the Royal Courts of Justice Jess has led coverage on several high-profile cases including the Wagatha Christie libel trial, challenges against the government’s Rwanda policy and Shamima Begum’s appeal against the removal of her British citizenship.

Jess’ work is regularly used by (nearly) every national paper and broadcaster and has also appeared in international outlets including The New York Times and The Washington Post. (They continue to think this is cool.)

In January 2019, Jess completed their NCTJ Diploma in Multimedia Journalism, generously supported by the Journalism Diversity Fund.

Before completing their NCTJ, Jess worked as a reporter for LGBT site PinkNews, covering news, investigations and features.

For their coverage of trans issues and news, Jess was part of a team nominated for a National Press Award for Reporting Diversity from the Society of Editors. In 2023, Jess contributed to PA’s shortlisted entry for National News Organisation of the Year for the society’s Media Freedom Awards.

In May 2019, Jess graduated from their MSc in Gender Studies at Birkbeck, University of London.

Jess is non binary and uses they/them pronouns. They live in London with their cat Timbits.
